SPS/IPC/DRIVES Highlights 2011
ESCHA is presenting a new Industrial Ethernet Programme, built-in plugs with right-angled contacts as well as innovations in the product lines 'base line' and 'Automation Line'.
From 22 to 24 November we are showing lots of new products at the SPS/IPC/DRIVES trade-show in Nürnberg. In addition to a largely redesigned product line for Industrial-Ethernet-applications, flanges with right-angled contacts will compensate for various wall thicknesses. Moreover, the round connector-series ‘base line’ and ‘Automation Line’ will be extended and optimized.

Industrial Ethernet
The new Industrial-Ethernet-Product Line will be a Highlight on our stand. As a result of the worldwide- and long-term development- and production cooperation agreement in the field of industrial-suited Ethernet-connectors between ESCHA and METZ CONNECT achieved more than a year ago, new M12x1-round connectors and RJ 45-connectors will be on display.
The new 8-pole M12x1-round connector with x-coding meets the requirements of the IEC PAS 61076-2-109 and will be available in different variants. In addition to a ready-made cable, a corresponding device connection as well as a field wireable plug are available. All variants fulfill the requirements of a safe and reliable data transmission according to Cat6A as well as those of protection classes IP67 and IP69K.
We will also show overmolded 4-pole and 8-pole RJ 45-connectors. These will – as it is the case with all other industrial-suited Ethernet-connectors – be successively introduced to the market within the first quarter of 2012.
Built-in Connector
In the field of M12x1 built-in connectors, we will present a flange with right-angled contacts for PCB assembly which can compensate for wall thicknesses up to 5 mm. This will also be realized through three different locking nuts which – depending on wall thickness – guarantee a standardized clearance between the pin arrangement and the locking nut.
The new built-in connector will be available as a 4-pole or 5-pole version in female housing style and male with A- or B-coding. Additionally, a version with shielding and D-coding for Industrial-Ethernet-applications is under development.
base line
The M12x1-round connector line ‘base line’ also presented a year ago in Nürnberg and meanwhile successfully established on the market has only been exclusively available in straight version so far. Now, the 3-, 4- und 5-pole connection- and junction cables will be supplemented with the right-angled housing style.
All ‚base line’ products can be equipped with three different cable qualities. You can choose between two PVC-cables (with or without UL-approval) and the S370-cable exclusively developed for us. This special cable combines all essential customer requirements in one product in contrast to the previous practice of using lots of different cable types for various requirements:
- Drag-chain adapted
- Halogen-, silicon- and PVC-free
- UL approved
- Welding-sparks resistant
- Chemicals- and oil resistant
- Microbes- and Hydrolysis resistant
- Flame retardant
Stockholding cost and logistics on manufacturer- and customer side can be considerably reduced.
Automation Line
Just above the ‘base line’, we are offering the ‘Automation Line’. This is available in housing styles M8x1 and M12x1 and also additionally features connectors with 360°-shielding, LED-display or high-pole version (M12x1 in 8- and 12-pole) supplementing the standard variants (3- to 5-pole connection- and junction cables in various housing styles and coding).
The optimized connectors of this series will now be presented at the SPS/IPC/DRIVES. As of now, all ‘Automation Line’ variants will be equipped with a hexagon locking nut significantly enhancing easy product installation: on the one hand enabling more cohesion of the torque wrench when tightening the connector, and on the other hand less space will be needed than with manual installation.
Two different PVC-cable qualities as well as our S370-cable are also optional for the ‘Automation Line’. We are covering nearly all customer demands in the field of standard connectivity through these diverse combination possibilities.
