Quick connector with LED

The angled versions of the S12x1 are now available in an LED model.

Halver, 03 Mach 2009 - The S12x1 quick connection system is now available in a new model. The successful market penetration of the male and female versions with a varying number of pins and in various designs is followed by an LED version. As with the standard versions, the S12x1 with LED also conforms to the IP67 protection class.

The new S12x1 with LED is available as a female version in an angled design. It is available with an operating-voltage and switch-status indicator (2 LEDs) or only with the switch-status indicator (1 LED). Connectors with LEDs are most useful when the terminal device does not have its own display or is installed in a system out of sight.

The special feature of all members of the S12x1 quick connector family is their complete compatibility with the M12 standard. As a result the S12 can be used in existing units and the customer is not restricted to a particular system. In the S12x1 the engineers in Halver, Germany, have developed a connector which, according to MTM methods (methidoc time management), has an 85 per cent shorter assembly time compared to a conventional connector.

How does the S12x1 work?

Upon insertion of the coupling a M12 female thread divided into six elements slides over the male thread of the mating connector. By pushing it on further the seal is compressed and the outer locking case moves forward. Finally there is a clear acoustic and haptic signal for the user.

Thanks to an integrated vibration protection system it has a high resistance to shock and vibration. High withdrawing forces in the locked position mean a high degree of safety. As the treads of the S12x1 connectors are not metal, mating threads made from plastic are not subjected to the same mechanical forces.
